Hi, my name's Alex. I received my bachelor's in math and philosophy in 2021 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I have several years of experience working as a professional math tutor at community colleges in Illinois and Wisconsin. I have also worked as a teaching assistant for both Calculus and Introductory Logic at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I was a graduate student for three years. My main areas of expertise are Calculus 1, 2, and 3, as well as Algebra, Precalculus, and Logic. I am happy to work with both high school and college students.
As a tutor, I typically make use of guiding questions and examples to nudge students in the right direction. Also, when needed, I try to provide clear and concise explanations which provide a more intuitive way of thinking about the concepts at hand. In my experience, this approach ensures not only that students are able to arrive the right answer, but also that they understand the process and the key ideas behind the solution. I am patient, understanding, and encouraging, and I don't mind repeating myself!
