Here are my stats: Master's Degree in English Education from Stanford University; Bachelor's in English from UW - Madison; 5+ years as a high school English teacher (including three years teaching AP English Language and Composition); one year as an Instructional Coach in a high school; University Field Supervisor for English Ed Teacher Candidates at UW - Milwaukee. I'm currently taking a break from the classroom to raise my baby daughter and thought I'd sign up here because I miss working with young people.

My primary source of joy: Students. My secondary source of joy: Language.

Students I love: All of them. My favorites are those who are working to cultivate a growth mindset and those who care more about personal growth than grades. I'm looking to take on 2 or 3 students who are interested in summer-long, semester-long or year-long tutoring so that we can truly accomplish your goals in weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Perhaps you want to get a head start on AP Lang or you didn't have room to take AP Lang, but you want a personalized class so you can take the test--let's do it! Or maybe you're in middle school and just want to make essays easier--we can! We can work on assignments you have or--even better--tell me what skills you want to improve and I'll plan something awesome.

What English assignments give you dread energy? Reading the book? Writing the essay? Giving a speech? Class discussions? I want to help you build your confidence! As an English teacher, I know how to help you navigate strategies and skills. I can't promise that English will become your favorite class, but I can promise your dread energy will disappear.
