About Drew

Bio

My name is Drew and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2016. During this time I earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics and a coaching concentration. I currently hold a grade 6-12 teaching license in the state of Wisconsin and earned a Master's degree from Augsburg University in 2019.

My name is Drew and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 2016. During this time I earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education in Mathematics and a coaching concentration. I currently hold a grade 6-12 teaching license in the state of Wisconsin and earned a Master's degree from Augsburg University in 2019.

During my time as an educator and tutor I have taught many math classes including: Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Precalculus, and Trigonometry. Additional courses that I completed in order to earn my degree include, abstract algebra, linear algebra, Calculus (I, II, III), and probability and statistics.

My experience in the classroom has allowed me to work with students of varying ability level as well as adapting lessons to fit students with IEP's. This training allows me to tailor lessons to an individual while tutoring and find the most effective means ways to help students progress.

My greatest joy while tutoring math is seeing students gain confidence in themselves and develop their critical thinking skills. These concepts, while useful in a math setting, pay great dividends in other classes and in everyday life too!

  • Rate details: Failure to cancel/reschedule 24 hours prior to a lesson or no-showing will incur 100% cost of a lesson. Lessons will be cancelled after 20 minutes of a students' absence and charged full lesson rate.

I've taught and tutored Precalculus since 2015 in the high school setting. Additionally, I started to tutor AP Precalculus when it began in 2023. I've also completed Calculus I,II,III during my undergraduate degree and has taught many classes preparing students to take these classes in college.

I help students adjust to the new SAT formatting and switching to a digital and adaptive exam. This includes mastering using technology (Desmos) during the exam and test taking strategies to assist with time management. On average, students increase their score between 50-150 points depending on where then began after working with me.

As a former division III cross country and track athlete at UW-La Crosse, I have a lot of personal experience in athletics and the necessary training to succeed. I furthered this experience by becoming an assistant coach at Augsburg University for two years, focusing on the culture of the program

Very friendly tutor that my son said was better than the experience at Sylvan Learning. I found the platform itself a little clunky since you need to write with a mouse- but the ideas came across well. We’ll see if my son does better on the retake!
