I grew up in many different countries and come from a background where English wasn't the first language for most people in my family. I like to say I've excelled at being a foreigner. My family is from Sierra Leone, West Africa. My name means foreigner in my mother's language. I was raised in London and moved to America in my late teens. My father worked for the United Nations so I spent a lot of time living in different countries and learning to adapt to new cultures.

I have always been fascinated by language. I studied French for many years at school and always found it easy to learn new languages when we would move to new countries. I enjoy learning the pragmatics of languages and after many a trial and error on my educational journey, I feel that I found my passion and parlayed it into a career. I went back to school and got an MA in TESL and travelled to Indonesia, Turkey and Japan to teach English. In Indonesia, I worked at a language school and taught k-12 and adults. In Turkey, I taught at an elementary school. In Japan I spent 2 years designing an international course curriculum and teaching high school students.
I really got to understand how to engage the students and improve their language learning through all the different classes I taught. I enjoyed my teaching positions in each country and learned a lot about teaching English as a foreign language. I have just moved back to the US. I haven't exactly figured out the next part of my journey, but would love to still help others on their quest to improve their English.
I have taught English in Turkey, Indonesia and Japan and have gone to graduate school and studied Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages..
I want to help you become comfortable learning English. Let's do this together!
