I was a teacher for over 16 years and specialized in Cross Categorical Special Education, History, GED, HSED, Basic Skills, Reading, Political Science, Social Studies, and Geography. I worked with a group of young women who were often victims of trauma and were many years behind their same-aged peers. I loved seeing growth and improvement in my students. I worked with girls who read far below grade level and was able to help them succeed in getting their HSED or high school diploma.

One of my strengths as a teacher is the ability to develop positive relationships with my students and help them become motivated to achieve academic success. I believe in working with students as individuals and challenging them to go as far as they are capable. Many times this involves more than tutoring. Lending an ear, hearing out problems and challenges are all parts of helping a student succeed.

I believe in open communication and flexibility.

I am able to tutor in math up to Algebra I. I have very strong basic math skills, understand Common Core math, and am able to not only teach the mechanics of how something is solved, but why it is that way as well.

I have a personal love of history and politics and over 40 college credits in history and political science. I just helped my son work through AP US History. He scored a 4 on the exam.

In tutoring history, discussions will take place to gain understanding, I have a variety of supplemental materials, a knowledge of a huge grade level span of materials, and a way to make it interesting because I love it and understand that not everyone does.

I also have great English, Reading, and Grammar skills. I think that comes from all of the papers I wrote when studying Social Sciences and History! I am effective in helping students prepare for standardized tests such as the ACT in the areas of English and Reading.

I currently am a trainer for the Department of Corrections. Not only do I train, but I also train others to become trainers. This is helpi

That portfolio also contained examples of exemplary work that was created by the student.

I have had the privilege of seeing some of my students then take what they learned from me and deliver excellent presentations. The Amazing Tracie R.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Tracie tutoring my son Corey for his Civic Literacy Test so that he can graduate college. She has been knowledgeable, patient, encouraging and breaking down the complexities of American Governement and its history into bite-size rememorable morsels so he can remember them. I highly recommend Tracie R.
