My name is Jianting, and I graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Materials Science and Engineering. I then built a career in data for over a decade, mostly in data consulting, during which I developed a strong foundation in problem solving and analytical reasoning. I am now in graduate school for an M.S. in Learning Analytics at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
I currently also tutor students online through a tutoring company and work primarily with high school mathematics, including Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, and Precalculus. My approach to tutoring is individualized and focused on developing genuine understanding of concepts instead of merely memorizing formulas. I work with students to identify specific needs, break challenging concepts into manageable components, and develop effective problem-solving strategies. Instead of simply providing answers, I encourage students to work through problems themselves while providing guidance and explanations when they get stuck.
I aim to create a patient and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is not only to help students succeed in their current coursework, but also equipping them with confidence and general robust problem-solving skills.
