For nearly a decade, though, I have had the great pleasure of serving as an academic tutor to a wide variety of students across many subjects. My approach to tutoring is to focus on the one-on-one relationship. Many students who seek extra tutoring want the extra help that comes with it. I prioritize this focus because these students will benefit the most from it. Over my time as a tutor, I've come to realize that each student is different; each student requires a unique, personal approach. Some students don't want a lecture on the subject; they want help to do their work, while others thrive on understanding a subject in great detail to best approach their academic work. My goal is to adapt to each student's learning style and build an approach that best fits them. A successful tutoring session is one where the student feels heard, concerns are addressed, and their goals are met. In my experience, this is best done through an open line of communication and an approach suited to their needs.
Because of this, I have found one-on-one online tutoring sessions to be most effective. High School, College, and Adult Learners are busy and always on the move. Online, one-on-one sessions ensure each student is set up for success, with sessions taking place in an environment best suited for their success.
