My name is Zach, and over my past 9 years of tutoring experience, I have developed a passion for educating and helping students from all backgrounds, from Kindergarten through Postdoctoral. I started in 2016 tutoring GED-level U.S. history, science, and algebra for students with Traumatic Brain Injuries. It was not only challenging but extremely rewarding to see students' passion and dedication blossom over time. After these 5 years, I attended the Universities of Wisconsin at Waukesha and Madison and graduated with honors and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, respectively. Since then, I have specialized in tutoring college-level writing through an online platform, covering a range of assignments from lab reports to research papers and dissertations. Beyond writing, I also frequently tutor in the following areas: algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, linear algebra, MS Office, general computer programming, anatomy and physiology, biology, (organic) chemistry, physics, and Earth, environmental, and natural sciences. During my 2 years tutoring online, I have maintained an average rating of 4.9 (out of 5) stars within a continuous sampling of 89 ratings.
I believe tutoring is also a reciprocal process, and I have learned as much over the years as I have taught. I have learned to meet students at their knowledge level, ask plenty of questions, and always be patient. I usually start by reviewing a student's past work, so I'm able to assess where they need the most help. If necessary, I re-teach material, and we work on comparable practice problems to master the process. If the student expresses interest, I encourage learning multiple ways to solve a problem to inspire deeper understanding.
I encourage students to bring suggestions and materials (such as homework, notes, readings, essays, etc.). I respond quickly to tutoring requests and have flexible availability, both online and in-person. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
