Teaching is my passion! Born in Brittany, I am French native and a tenured professor at a rigorous Liberal Arts school in the Midwest where I have been teaching French & francophone literature with a focus on contemporary lit & environmental studies. I have tutored and taught in many different settings, including at the Alliance Française of Cork (Ireland), the Institut Français in London (UK), the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Wisconsin, Madison. As a mom of three bilingual kids, I also love teaching French to school aged children, making learning French fun by using a blend of children books, songs and games.
I hold a Masters in French Literature from Rennes II, a Masters in FLE (French as a Foreign Language from Rouen), a Masters in Comparative Literature (UIUC) and a PhD in French Literature (UWM).
I can help you boost your confidence in French, tailoring my classes to your needs and interests. I have taught to a great range of students from beginning to advanced levels (A1 to C1) and would love to help you reach the next level in French! Over the years, I have gathered a lot of materials ranging from grammar exercises to conversation prompts, DELF/ DALF exams, literature close reading tools, and much more. I can help you make grammar your friend and writing in French much easier. I would also particularly enjoy helping you with your conversational and listening comprehension skills, as well as your helping you hone your analytical skills to craft powerful essays in French.
Of course, I would love to introduce you to French and francophone literature, French cinema, songs, art and cuisine!
I love getting to know my students to shape the class around their personalities, needs and sense of purpose to make French learning a gateway to expanding your horizons, engaging with other cultures and opening you traveling and career opportunities worldwide !
