I’ve been an English teacher and tutor for about 12 years as of 2025. I taught English in classrooms for 8 years, and I’ve been an online English tutor since 2021.

I work with students who are learning English as well as native speakers who grew up speaking English. If you’re learning English, I’m a certified TESOL teacher, and I can help you with your pronunciation, vocabulary and English grammar.

If you already speak English and need help with your reading and writing, I can help with that, too. For reading, I can teach you strategies for understanding new words as well as how to find main ideas and important details in the texts you’re reading, and those are very important skills for test-taking.

I also assist students with their writing, helping you to:
• understand grammar, including the correct use of capitalization and punctuation
• write outlines that make it easier to write essays
• use logic to make good arguments for persuasive essays

I work with students from 5th grade through and beyond college. I like to learn about your interests, so that when I need to explain something to you with examples, I can use an example that you’re more likely to be interested in.

I hope you’ll schedule a lesson with me so we can get to know each other and I can learn how to help you.

Accent Reduction

Accent Reduction

I have been working as a tutor since 2021, mostly serving adults who are learning English. In addition to helping them with their vocabulary and grammar, I work to help them pronounce English like a native speaker. I prefer to have them read texts on subjects they're interested in while I focus on their pronunciation, and I usually only focus on two, at most three, pronunciation issues at one time so as not to overwhelm them. I use graphics, videos and demonstrations to show them how correct placement of tongue, jaw and lips creates their target sounds, and I give them practice words or sentences as homework between lessons.
ACT English

ACT English

I have been teaching English for 12 years: I was a classroom teacher for 8 years, and I’ve been an online tutor for the last 4. I recently took the ELA sections of the ACT and the SAT practice tests. I received a score of 30 on the ACT; on the SAT paper test, I had 32 out of 33 correct answers on both modules.
ACT Reading

ACT Reading

I recently took the ELA parts of the ACT and received a score of 30. I also recently took the SAT and had 32 correct answers out of 33 on both modules. I have a lesson plan ready for teaching both tests: roughly, I would use a student’s recent test, if available, or have them take a practice test to determine which aspects of the ELA parts of either test are most difficult, looking for patterns in their mistakes. I would then review concepts the student was having trouble with, giving them the opportunity to build skill levels and confidence, and we would consider time-saving strategies. We would set SMART goals and use them to guide the student’s studies, then take another practice test. Based on analysis of that test, we would determine where the student needed concept reviews and practice drills, then test again until they are achieving the scores they’re satisfied with.
