Does your child struggle to sound out words, look at a page with frustration, or guess blindly at text based on picture clues? As a current fourth-grade teacher with over a decade of classroom and tutoring experience, I know firsthand how heartbreaking it is to watch a bright student fall behind. When an elementary reader misses foundational skills, it impacts their reading confidence and academic success across every subject. I specialize in turning struggling readers and reluctant readers into fluent, independent bookworms.

Why My Data-Driven Approach Works:

I do not believe in guesswork, memorizing word shapes, or one-size-fits-all worksheets. Instead, I utilize evidence-based strategies rooted deeply in the Science of Reading. My instruction features explicit, Orton-Gillingham (OG) aligned methods paired with the highly effective Sonday System curriculum. This systematic phonics program breaks language down into predictable phonics rules, using a multi-sensory learning approach (sight, sound, and touch) that locks concepts into long-term memory. This structured literacy framework is incredibly effective for early learners, students closing learning gaps, and children showing signs of dyslexia or navigating IEP goals and 504 plans.

My Professional Background & Credentials:

As a licensed educator and active classroom teacher for more than 10 years, I bring professional-grade intervention expertise directly to our tutoring sessions. Because I currently teach upper elementary, I know exactly what Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, and 4th grade students need to master to be successful when they reach the higher grades. I understand the benchmarks your school expects them to hit, and I know how to get them there without the tears.

Let’s close the reading gap and restore your child’s love for learning. Send me a message today to discuss your child's current reading level and schedule our first diagnostic session!

A one of a kind tutor

My child struggles with reading and dyslexia. We have been tutoring for the past three years and in the 2 months tutoring with Nicole, I’ve seen tremendous growth and improvement. Nicole provides statistical assessments to analytically measure progress and growth. Nicole uses the Soneday program and it’s really helping my child learn and remember phonics and phonics rules. Nicole has also increased my child’s confidence, independence and self-growth. My child is reading books alone, wants to read and is excited to become a reader. This alone is amazing. Nicole is a great teacher, tutor and overall a good person. I can’t thank her enough for what she provides. I can’t recommend Nicole enough. She’s an excellent tutor!

Excellent Tutor

We just started tutoring with Ms. Nicole to help our daughter, a 4th grader, improve her reading and communication skills, and so far she has been fabulous! She packs so much into each hour while keeping our daughter engaged the entire time. Our daughter is extremely shy, but Ms. Nicole connected with her from day one and has done such a great job bringing her out of her shell and getting her comfortable chatting about different books and topics. We’re so happy we found her!
