I believe in lifelong learning! The human brain needs to be exercised regularly and the human spirit needs to be stimulated and encouraged. Learning can change your life! A successful learning experience can help you get a new job, gain self confidence, improve your performance, increase your understanding, identify alternatives, make better choices, contribute to society...the list goes on and on.

Tutoring can enhance the learning process by providing direction and coaching to help you learn as effectively as possible. As a former Information Technology Instructor in the Wisconsin Technical College System I spent 25 years developing IT-related courses (classroom, independent study, and online) - and helping students become effective learners. During those years, I learned a lot about teaching - both in the classroom and online. I also learned a lot about people - how they learn, how they communicate, and how mutual respect and trust are key elements in that process.

In my life as an instructor, I taught college-level classes in subjects such as: database design, SQL, MS Access, MySQL, HTML/CSS, and beginning programming. My first professional job (after graduating with an associate's degree in Information Technology a long time ago!) was as a programmer. I spent several years as a programmer, database analyst, systems analyst, and user support analyst before becoming a teacher. I have continued throughout my career to learn new technology and currently work as a contractor using Drupal on a web development project. I am having a great time enjoying the challenge and learning more every day!
