I have an extensive background in education; I have also worked extensively in agriculture and fisheries. I have lived in three African countries (Tanzania, Ghana, and Benin). I have traveled to Germany several times, and I lived in Mexico for a short time, where I studied marine reef ecology. I speak English, German, and Swahili fluently, and I know some Spanish and French. I am certified in TEFL.

I have taught in the Mississippi public school system (seven years), as well as working as a teacher at a treatment facility (nine years). I taught in the State of Wisconsin university system, and also at a teachers' training college in West Africa. I worked in the Ministry of Education in Benin, West Africa. I have spent a lot of time working in fisheries (in Alaska, Africa and Mississippi), and I have also worked on several farms in Mississippi during the summers between academic years.

I have worked with students in math classes (pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, and algebra II) one-on-one for the last nine years.

I have had a lot of practical experience in Biology. In Mississippi I prepared a lot of students for nursing and medical school.

I have worked as an ESL teacher in Africa, as well as at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. Because I have had to learn foreign languages for my professional career, I am aware of the challenges that face someone when he or she has to learn a new language.
