Hello! My name is Avriel and I have been a Special Education Teacher for the past 8 years. I graduated Magna Cum Laude at the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (Grades 1-8) and Special Education (K-12 with an emphasis in Emotional Behavior Disabilities and Learning Disabilities). I have experience working with students from grades 1-12th grade with a variety of needs such as learning, social emotional, executive functioning, etc. I am certified in Math Recovery 1 and LETRS Literacy training.
I have loved to help kids learn from as long as I can remember. I tutored throughout high school during the school day for students that needed extra support. That's where my love for teaching came to light. I went through my various courses in college that required 5 different teaching placements to get my bachelor's degree. Each placement came with its own set of challenges but many lessons in what has made me the teacher I am today. I teach with the mindset to meet the students where they are at. Building on their strengths to lift up their weaknesses. I love to see their progress, both big and small.
This is my 8th year of teaching as a special education teacher, and I have worked with students between the ages of 6-10. I have done specialized instruction in the areas of reading, math, writing, self-regulation, social skills, executive functioning skills, etc. I have delivered instruction in the special education setting and in the general education setting. I also have experience with co-teaching with general education teachers on general education curriculum.
My goal is to help students develop confidences in their needs and to meet them where they are at. I am easy to reach, and I am more than willing to problem solve in order to meet students' needs. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!
