My name is Mrs. Perez. I have been tutoring a plethora (wide range) of subjects and grades from English to SAT prep and from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Teaching is my passion and so is tutoring! I've been tutoring for more than 10 years now. My certification is in a few different fields. Mainly, I'm endorsed in Elementary education and ELL (English Language Learners). The past couple of years I have taught Kindergarten and then 1st grade. It has been such a rewarding and fun experience!
Also, I have a TESOL certificate, for anyone, any age, that is interested in learning English as a second language.

During our first session, I always like to get to know the student, create concrete academic goals, and gain insight into your learning style. Typically, you might get some type of pre-assessment, just to decipher (understand) your comprehension with whichever subject we're going to cover. I started karate in 1999 and participated in the National Karate Junior Olympics a handful of times. Kata is my favorite part, and I received 3 gold medals in kata for my division. Also, have a few silver and bronze medals for both kata and kumite. I am a senpai since I have my red belt but decided not to advance to black since the higher belts tend to have greater contact during fighting which sometimes result in severe injuries. During the tournaments, witnessing a couple of people become unconscious from kicks to the head discouraged me from advancing to a black belt. Thus, I am a beginner karate senpai (in the hayashi-ha-shito ryu style). In the past, I have taught several lower belts: white, stripped, yellow, orange, blue, and red in my dojo.

Growing up my parents, grandparents, and relatives all spoke Russian with me. Thus, I am fluent in Russian. Plus, when living in Russia I went to school to learn how to read and write in the language at an elementary level.

Awesome, knowledgeable and patient

We are very happy with our daughter's new teacher, Valentina. She has taken away my worries about improving my daughter's reading and writing skills to reach 1st grade levels.
