Hi, I'm Prithvi, an incoming computer science student at the University of Washington and a recent graduate of The Overlake School. I have a younger brother whom I've taught various things for as long as I can remember, and I would say my love and appreciation for teaching has come from there. I love to see students improve and begin to grasp previously complex concepts - for example, I tutored family friends for various placement tests such as the CogAT and SAT with encouraging results. I've also built understanding on how to teach skills with a result in mind - after winning the TYE startup pitch competition my sophomore year, I served as a mentor to a younger team which also proceeded to win at the global level, coming first out of 1,000+ competitors.
I especially love building confidence in students. I felt this especially when I tutored students in a rural South Indian school in public speaking - seeing them build from initially scared to speak in front of the class to eventually confidently presenting was a very fulfilling experience for me. I think it also made me a better teacher due to the challenges of helping students improve despite connectivity issues and a language barrier.
Math has been one of the key foci of my academic life - I took Calc AB/BC in sophomore/junior year respectively and received 5s on the AP test for both subjects (I also scored a 770 on the SAT math section). In my senior year I took college courses from Lake Washington Institute of Technology, including Matrix Algebra and Calc III.
I can't wait to tutor students in high school math or SAT/ACT math! Reach out to me and I will be quick to respond :)
