Hello, this is Farah! I am an undergraduate student at UW Seattle studying Environmental Science. For the past two years, I have been on the Dean’s List for my strong academic performance in courses like biology, ecology, and other diverse subjects. I have always enjoyed helping my classmates by explaining difficult topics in a clear and simple way while making them enjoy the subject and gain confidence.
Last quarter, I took an education class focused on teaching as a profession. This class introduced me to different teaching methods and learning styles. During my projects, I often designed assignments suitable for younger students, such as elementary and middle schoolers. This helped me practice explaining concepts in creative, engaging, and age-appropriate ways.
The way I like to tutor is by sparking curiosity and enthusiasm toward science in a practical, creative, and fun way. I enjoy using examples from things students can observe in their daily lives, along with interactive activities that make learning more engaging. My goal is not only to help students complete homework, but also to help them truly understand and enjoy what they are learning.
I believe kids are smart and capable, and I really appreciate when they ask questions. I see tutoring as a two-way learning experience, where tutors also learn from their students. Encouraging curiosity helps students feel comfortable, confident, and motivated.
I also volunteered at a preschool as an Arabic teacher assistant, where I learned patience and how to support children in building confidence in themselves and their abilities. I would love to work hand-in-hand with parents to help children reach their goals and grow academically. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, I’ll do my best to respond as soon as possible.
