Hi there! My name is Grant and I’m excited to share my passion for math and computer science with you. I recently graduated from Whitman College with a BA in Computer Science. During my time there, I worked on a research project using Bayesian Optimization to facilitate the synthesis of nanocrystals in an automated chemistry lab. I’ve taken courses in all levels of calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, algorithm design, and combinatorics. I scored a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam, earned top grades in Calculus 3 and differential equations, received the AP Scholar with Distinction award, and scored 770 on the SAT math section.

I've tutored for over 7 years now, working with middle and high school students, as well as my peers in college, both for fun and as a job. In high school, I tutored on the side, and at Whitman College, I was hired as a Teaching Assistant for an introductory computer science course and to tutor Calculus 1. In these roles, I assisted in classroom instruction, held office hours, and led study groups. I have tutored English, Algebra, Calculus (1, 2, and 3), Linear Algebra, Intro to CS (Python), and Data Structures (C++).

My tutoring approach is hands-on and student-centered. I use examples and challenges to help students understand and master topics. I am very patient and always accommodate each student's unique learning style. My goal is for students to leave each session able to solve problems independently. I enjoy learning alongside my students and love when they take new approaches.

Teaching and learning with people is incredibly rewarding. My motivation comes from the joy of seeing students have "aha" moments and make deeper connections. Whether you're preparing for SAT math, tackling algebra, diving into calculus, or learning Python or C++, I'm here to help. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your academic goals!
