My name is Tyler B., I graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2015 with a BA in History Secondary Education. I specialized in European History, but rather than limit my teaching to content I prefer to teach History and Social Studies via the methods and practices of professional Historians. These include analysis, questioning, critical thinking, empathy, literacy, investigation, etc. By focusing my lessons on these skills, my students are competent in analyzing a wide variety of sources.

I have five years of experience in the classroom studying pedagogy and teaching styles, and two years of professional experience in the classroom. My history education has covered world, European, and US history. I love teaching because I'm able to motivate students to have global perspectives and to have a desire to participate in local and national civics.

My major was in European History and my minor was in Political Science, but more generally I have taken courses that include Russian, Southeast-Asian, African, Latin American, European, American, and Native American history. Like I said earlier, my focus is on the skills historians need to succeed rather than simple memorization of facts, names, or dates. I will make sure you are confident in your ability to look at any source and be able to analyze it, investigate its origins, and explain its importance today.
