Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have a degree in Business Administration with a degree in Accounting and a minor in Marketing Management from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona, California. I ran a successful accounting tutoring business during my senior year at the university.

CBEST

I passed the CBEST in the fall of 1998. I also passed the Multiple Subjects Assessment Test required in California in 1999 in my first attempt. I felt that this test was easier than the SAT, that is required for college entrance. Honestly, the most difficult part of this test for me was the handwriting section at the end.

Cooking

As a freshman in high school, I co-taught the senior level cooking class. I also taught a select group of my fifth grade students how to cook. I was taught as a young child by my grandmother the fine art of culinary. I am we'll versed in the various measurements, the diverse ingredients, and the prer way to slice, dice, and chop.

Elementary (K-6th)

I taught in my own multiple subjects classroom, mainly 5th grade, for 5 years in Southern California. I also had to develop my own curriculum and lesson plans. I passed the Multiple Subjects Assessments test in 1999 as part of my credentialing program. I enjoyed incorporating all of the subjects together in different lesson plans.

Film

I have appeared in over 20 different movies and television shows over the past 12 years as a background artist. I subscribe and read the Hollywood Reporter magazine keeping up with the latest innovations and news of the Media industry. I have also attended several conferences at Biola University. I have kept up with the Annual American Film Institutes top films of all times. Some of the films I agree with, others I disagree with. I understand from watching filming in person on the sets and speaking with the actors how intense this industry truly is.

Financial Accounting

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, over 20 years of tutoring.

Managerial Accounting

Bachelors Degree in Accounting, over 20 years of tutoring.

Marketing

I minored in Marketing Management at the university. I took several marketing courses in high school and at the university. I also have followed retailing trends for over 30 years.

Microsoft Outlook

I have utilized Outlook as my email and calendar my entire career. It is a very complete system and has allowed me to succeed in collecting billions of dollars to setting up and keeping many important meetings over the years. I know how to set up rules to keep e-mails organized. I know how to set up distribution lists so that I can send the same e-mail to multiple people at the same time. I know how to set up my address book to keep my contacts organized.

Microsoft Word

I am a Professional businessman with a degree in Business Administration. I have used Word for years.

Public Speaking

I am qualified to teach, coach, public speaking based on my experience as an educator, teacher, and prior member of a leading speech organization. I have taught in China, Thailand, and the United States. All of these places have very diverse cultures and audiences. Speaking in front of all of them was not easy. However, I persevered and was successful in getting my message across. I was the vice president of membership for a local chapter of Toastmasters.

Study Skills

I am qualified to tutor in study skills for several reasons. First, I taught study skills as part of my regular curriculum for my fifth grade students. Second, I have taught study skills in a Chinese language academy. He students entrusted to my care not only succeeded in my class, but for years to come. These are the reasons why I am qualified to tutor in the area of study skills. Thank you.

Theater

I have acted in school and church plays ever since I was 6 years old. I also worked as a background artist, aka an extra, for many network television shows and movies. I had the privilege of playing two roles utilizing a Russian accent in an affluent area of Southern California.
