I was born and grew up in Italy and have taught Italian, on and off, for 35 years, including classes at the Boston Language Institute. (English is my second language, German my third, and French my fourth.) I have an excellent, dialect-free Italian pronunciation and use a wide assortment of materials to supple-ment a textbook — including songs, poems, newspaper articles, and short stories. I custom tailor my les-sons to the needs and goals of each student, but always stress proper pronunciation and basic grammar.

I prefer to teach at my home, in East Vancouver, where I have plenty of teaching materials here and it is reliably quiet. However, any location that is quiet and regularly available will do.

In case you want to learn Italian because you are a musician, I will add that I studied classical piano for 12 years and studied music theory, voice, and solfège for five years with Maestro Renzo Gori of the Istituto Musicale Luigi Boccherini, in Lucca, where I passed my exams in those subjects. (I also ran a folk music coffee house for most of a decade and played for three years in a samba band.)
