I have been helping others learn for as long as I can remember. Even while I was the student, I helped others that struggled. This carried over into my professional life. I have been helping others learn for as long as I can remember. Even while I was the student, I helped others that struggled. This carried over into my professional life. I traveled abroad and tutored overseas for nearly 10 years. I did not tutor ESL though, I was actually tutoring what I am passionate about, mathematics.

I went to school at Pacific Lutheran University studying to be a teacher of high school math. My minor was in psychology with an emphasis on learning disabilities. I watched some of my friends struggle with dyslexia and I wanted to learn how to help them. I have a bachelor's if arts in secondary mathematics education.

After substitute teaching for a year, I moved to England and tutored math there. I then traveled to Kuwait and tutored more math in my first real experience outside the United States. From there, I moved back to America and spent my time tutoring in Las Vegas and Indiana. I discovered about myself that I loved traveling. I went to China and spent 3 years there tutoring. While in China, I pursued my master's degree in Instruction and Curriculum from Jones International University, one of the only purely online schools at the time. I wanted to learn how to become an even better tutor.

I love watching students grapple with new concepts and finally grasp it. For a split second, there is a look of conquest, exhilaration and smugness, that makes tutoring worthwhile. I love to see students with a look of "I got this" on their face. In my opinion, math is a lot to do with confidence. Anyone can do math. They just need the right instructor and that is ME!
