Hi, I'm Darby! I hold a Bachelor's degree in Earth and Space Exploration (Geological Sciences) with a certificate in Field Geology, earned in 2020. My academic background includes intensive coursework in mineralogy, petrology, structural geology, and field methods—all of which required strong foundations in math, chemistry, and physics. I completed advanced math through Calculus III and Statistics, and I credit much of my success to the support I received from tutors and mentors. That experience inspired me to become a tutor myself.

I’ve been tutoring for over a decade, starting in high school by helping classmates and my younger siblings. In college, I worked at a local recreation center tutoring 3rd through 6th graders, where I gained familiarity with common core methods despite my own education being outside that system. I’ve continued tutoring both in person and online, supporting students from elementary through college level. One of my proudest successes was helping a high school student navigate and pass Chemistry, Algebra I, Geometry, and College Algebra over four years of consistent tutoring.

My tutoring style is patient, flexible, and focused on building foundational understanding. Since I wasn’t a “natural” at math myself, I know how to explain difficult concepts from multiple angles and break them into manageable steps. Whether a student needs to catch up, stay on track, or move ahead, I aim to make math and science more approachable—and even enjoyable. I currently offer both in-person and online sessions and would love to learn more about your goals.

I was not part of the session between Darby and my daughter but after talking to my daughter she did tell me she was very helpful and she understood the way things were being explained to her. I definitely would recommend Darby
