People struggle with math and that's mostly because, truthfully, math is difficult. It's a challenging subject for almost everyone and sometimes you just need a little help to get you over a hurdle that is blocking your understanding.

Some teachers and textbooks seem to want to hide the answers from students in the hope the student will discover the solution without any extra help. Sadly, in my experience, this approach often fails even if the student only needs very minor assistance to get going and it definitely fails if the student doesn't even know where to begin.

Math is seldom taught well in the typical classroom; there's rarely any interest in or excitement for the subject and the deeper meanings are often overlooked. It ends up being taught as a big game of memorization and 'tricks' to 'get the right answer.' Math is so much more than memorization and so I try to tutor in such a way as to gain a strong foundational understanding and build from there, based on the needs, desires, abilities and interests of the student. I'll answer any questions you have as best I can and I'll even go through every part of every step of every problem, if that will help. No detail is too small to me and, if you've got a question, you deserve an answer.

Please feel free to contact me at any time.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Algebra is the class where math starts to look at some more complicated topics. It is very important to have a solid foundation in algebra, as math is a cumulative topic. If you have any questions with any problems, or want to cover any topics, don't be afraid to ask! I'll spend as much time as you need until you feel you understand the topic.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Algebra 2 is the subject I've tutored the most in, so I'm extremely comfortable and knowledgeable with the types of questions that teachers ask of their students. Having a good foundation in Algebra will go a very long way, even in calculus, so don't be afraid to ask if you need help!
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus is an important class, especially for those going into calculus. I've tutored hundreds of hours in this subject (in addition to tutoring in calculus), so I know where to focus what you'll need to know not just for your tests, but also for any calculus class you end up taking!

Trigonometry

There's no doubt that Trig is a difficult class, but I can help you with any tricky questions you're stuck on or concepts you may have difficulty grasping. Oftentimes teachers don't go into the detail and time required to understand the topics, but I'll spend as much time as necessary until you feel comfortable enough to proceed!

Knowledgeable and great at explaining!

He was really helpful with Trigonometry identities and helped me with a word problem I always have trouble with. Will definitely use Alex again. I really appreciated that even though he had a power outage, he found a way to still meet with me.

Flexible and knowledgeable tutor

Alex helps our son with Alegbra 1 and makes concepts easy to understand. We have used Alex 4 times and plan to continue with him as needed. He helped us complete an assignment that would've taken me hours in under an hour. Thank you Alex!

Knowledgeable, Great Communication

Alex has such in-depth knowledge of the highschool Algebra 2/Trig material that he was able to pinpoint the misunderstandings and guide the student back on track. He was able to connect with my son right away. My son is looking forward to his math lessons! I'm also extremely pleased that Alex is prompt and flexible. So happy to have found Alex to help my son's math.

In-depth and knowledgable tutor.

Alex taught my daughter about numerous Algebra 2 concepts including complex numbers and quadratics. His in-depth teaching method thoroughly explained each concept and helped her practice them until they were mastered. With his help, she performed better in the class and was able to understand the topics.

Algebra 2

My son just completed his second lesson and was very happy. In just one lesson, Alex was able to help him with a few homework assignments and he feels really good about them. He thought he was so helpful and wants to have Alex tutor him weekly!
