I have over 20 years of experience as a full-time, Washington state certified continuing teacher and over 8 years of experience tutoring students. I have tutored students in a variety of subject areas, but usually specialize in all levels of math and reading development. Students in the past have ranged from 5 to 53 years of age, and I am currently working with 7 different students, two of whom have special needs. I am very versatile and adapt to whatever each particular student requires.
My tutoring methods vary as students vary. Each student requires a unique approach, and I carefully cultivate methods for each pupil to ensure their success. I have worked with a variety of students ranging from those with learning disabilities all the way to brilliant students seeking a challenge. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
