My name is Taylor and I currently live in Spokane, Washington. I graduated from Chico state in 2008, with the degree of Communcation Sciences and Disorders. I became interested in the field of speech therapy after my brother who has autism, began seeing a speech therapist when I was in high school. I have a lot of experience working with children with special needs, and want to pursue a career in that area.
During my undergraduate studies at Chico state, I had several jobs working with children. I was a full time nanny my freshman year, for children ages 5 and 10. My sophomore year I was an in-home tutor for a child with autism. My junior year of college I taught a cooking class for children ages 6 to 10, as well as during the course of my junior and senior year I worked with children with autism.
During my senior year of college I worked for a tutoring company which help children ages 5-17 on the subjects of reading and math. I also started the first food column for the school newspaper, as well as was fundraiser for my major's club.
I am currently in my second year of graduate school in speech therapy at Eastern New Mexico University. For the past year, I have lived in New Mexico as a full time graduate student and I have recently moved back to Spokane to finish up the rest of my graduate school course work online to allow me to intern in Washington. While I was living in New Mexico, I was a resident assistance in the freshman dorms as well as a graduate assistant. I appreciate the time you have given me, and I hope for your consideration.
