Hi, I'm John! I'm a credentialed math teacher with over 20 years of experience helping students understand mathematics, from elementary math and pre-algebra through Algebra, Geometry, Precalculus, and AP Calculus. I hold a master's degree in Mathematics Education and Curriculum Development, and I specialize in helping students make sense of challenging math concepts, build confidence, and develop stronger problem-solving skills.

I've taught in public, private, and charter schools, working with students across a wide range of grade levels and abilities. I've also spent much of my career developing mathematics curriculum and intervention programs designed to help students who are struggling or have gaps in their understanding. Whether a student needs help with basic math skills or advanced calculus, I understand how mathematical concepts build upon one another and how to help students make those connections.

One thing I've learned over the years is that students often struggle with math not because they can't do it, but because something along the way hasn't quite made sense. When I work with students, I start by understanding how they're thinking and where they're getting stuck. I use visual models, examples, questions, and guided practice to help them understand why the math works, rather than simply memorizing steps.

I want students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. Whether your child needs help keeping up with homework, preparing for an upcoming exam, catching up on foundational skills, or tackling more advanced mathematics, my goal is to help them become more confident and independent learners.

I offer online and in-person tutoring and would be happy to learn more about your child's needs and how I can help them succeed.
