Hi, I’m Eric — a Deaf ASL tutor who’s passionate about helping others learn American Sign Language the right way: through real conversation, cultural awareness, and visual learning.

I’m a native ASL user with over 44 years of lived experience in the Deaf community. I grew up in a mixed Deaf/hearing family, raised two CODA kids, and graduated from Gallaudet University. I also hold a Level 4 ASLPI certification.

I’ve taught ASL to a wide range of students — including hearing parents of Deaf children, college students, and beginners of all ages. My teaching style is hands-on and visual. I adjust the pace based on your learning style and include Deaf culture in every session.

Outside of tutoring, I run Thrive With ASL — a community platform dedicated to authentic ASL learning and supporting Deaf-inclusive communication.

I am a Gallaudet graduate and a native ASL user with over 45 years of experience using ASL as my primary language. I hold a Level 4 ASLPI certification and have 5 years of experience teaching ASL to the community, including hearing parents of Deaf children and ASL beginners. Additionally, I have 20+ years of professional experience working with Deaf individuals with varying ASL proficiency levels in sales and customer service. My hands-on, conversational teaching style incorporates Deaf culture and real-world applications to help students confidently use ASL in their daily lives.

A true mentor\

WOW... Eric and I are a PREFECT fit. He gets exactly what I am wanting. What I was hoping for was someone who would be a true tutor... really help me learn in a structured and focused way. But what I feel I am getting is more like a mentor. He understands my goals and has shown that he is not just teaching random facts or teaching random skills, but truly sees the big picture. He is not just teaching skills but guiding me to crystal clear long term broad understandings. We are going to get along GREAT!

Great help

Eric is helping me with fingerspelling. We practiced with words that I am learning, which helped me with fingerspelling and also helped me remember those signs. We also practiced turning English sentences into ASL sentences. I am beginning to see improvement in my receptive fingerspelling.
