Hello students! My name is Akpobasa, and I am a graduate of one of the best and most reputable schools in Africa, the University of Benin. I have a Second Class Honors Upper Division (3.5 G.P.A) in English and Literature Bachelor of Arts Degree, and experience in teaching English and Literature in high/secondary schools, and international education academies.
In 2011, I was hired as an English and literature teacher in a private high/secondary school in Nigeria called St Theresa Catholic Private School. During this time, I prepared the senior classes for their WAEC exams. This exam is usually taken by these classes at the end of the session and acts as a requisite for admission into the university. My task was simply to combine information and entertainment to create a conducive environment for learning for this level of students in order for them to assimilate information enjoyably. I conducted class exercises such as spelling bees, debating competitions, peculiar phonology sessions involving identifying and articulating words and their sounds, essay writing competitions, to name a few. In any event, I was pleased to discover that all my students attained remarkably good grades in English; most of them scoring A's and B's.
In 2012, I went on to work for an international academy called Global Education Counseling (GEC), a school committed to using its expertise to assist students in finding the most appropriate university placement worldwide. They offered programs such as IDFP, IMFP, GMAT, IGCSE etc. I must emphasize that as an English expert, I only gave classes on the English aspects of some of these programs. Given the high level standards of these, such as GMAT, I simply recommended books such as Kaplan New GMAT 2013 and at the same time conducted several class exercises in the form of written tests, question and answer periods, and exam evaluation. To add, I gave students relevant homework that geared toward personal unraveling of some of the technicalities behind the ingenuity of GMAT questions.
