Educator with 13 years of teaching and 15 years of Tutoring Experience

I am an educator and private tutor who has been working with students K-12 across many disciplines and skill levels for more than 13 years. I have a degree in Early Childhood Education, a degree in Elementary Education, a degree in Social Sciences as well as a Masters in Teaching. I have taught K-5, as well as 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th & 12th grades. Prior to teaching, I served multiple years in the AmeriCorps program working with youth in education, and I have spent more than 3,000 hours in middle school and high school classrooms and ran my own tutoring business for more than 8 years.

I love tutoring on academic material, but my top skill set is taking complex ideas and subjects and communicating them in more clear and relatable terms. When I was growing up, I struggled in many subjects and I operate from the perspective of knowing what it feels like to not "get it" right away. Learning can be very fun, and there are tricks to making it less stressful!

My teaching expertise especially strong in reading and writing, but I also have a love for history, civics and establishing understanding in how we function within society and interact with each other and institutions. I have many general content resources and strong knowledge of math and science across the K-12 disciplines.
