When I first started my college journey, I hadn't a clue about what I wanted to do. Over the years, I've narrowed it down to two things: I love working with people, and I love helping them learn. I've spent years working for other tutoring/test prep companies and have decided to venture out on my own.

When I first started my college journey, I hadn't a clue about what I wanted to do. Over the years, I've narrowed it down to two things: I love working with people, and I love helping them learn. I've spent years working for other tutoring/test prep companies and have decided to venture out on my own.

As a graduate with a degree in Biochemistry, I have a very strong foundation in math and science. When I took my own SAT over 10 years ago, I scored a 2220 (with an 800 on Math, 700 in Reading, and 720 in Writing). I have helped some of my students get an 800 on at least one section on the SAT (as well as a 36 on at least one section in the ACT). Believe it or not, some of my students have ended up with higher official scores than me. I have experience with AP exams as well. I have helped several students score a 5 in AP Biology, Physics 1 & 2, and Calculus.

I sincerely hope that I can help you gain a better understanding of those subjects. I currently live in Seattle.

Approved Subjects

ACT English

ACT English

I have over 10+ years of experience helping students improve their scores on the ACT. I have broad depth of knowledge and can help students go from a score in the 20s to a score in the 30s. Most notably, I specialize in helping students go from a 30 to a 34+ on the ACT.
ACT Math

ACT Math

The ACT math is tricky because you are expected to answer 60 questions in 60 minutes. A student is required to have a solid foundation in high school math (most notably algebra 2, trigonometry, and geometry). I try to help students by teaching them the most important concepts, the ones that are tested over and over again on the ACT. I also teach them various techniques to help work through a problem when they draw a blank.
ACT Science

ACT Science

Over 5+ years teaching students the rules and tricks needed to do well on the ACT Science test. I scored a composite score of 34 on the ACT when I took the test 10 years ago.
Chemistry

Chemistry

For many students, chemistry is like a foreign language. You are expected to know new concepts like "moles", "molar mass", and "solubility". It can be very intimidating when you first learn the material. But, believe it or not, a lot of chemistry is built from a foundation of relatively simple concepts. I try to figure out if there are any gaps in my students' knowledge, and I help them understand what they are doing in their classes. I have a bachelors degree in biochemistry. I have taught students at the high school, college, and AP level of chemistry.
Organic Chemistry

Organic Chemistry

As graduate with a degree in Biochemistry, I am fully aware of how difficult Organic Chemistry is. It is generally considered to be a gateway course, particularly for premed students. I've seen many students struggle in Ochem. Heck, I was one of those students. But, fear not. Even if you don't understand a single word in lecture, you CAN pass the class, and I can help with that. No matter your background, whether you love chemistry or hate it, I CAN help you get the grade you want.
Precalculus

Precalculus

When I took the SATs, I scored an 800 on the Math section. When I took AP Calc, I scored a 5 on the exam. Reading those things, you might think that I'm some sort of math genius. Nothing could be further from the truth. Truth be told, I wasn't always good at math. It didn't come naturally, and frankly, it didn't make a lot of sense. However, in high school, I was fortunate enough to have a few really enthusiastic teachers. They helped me overcome my weaknesses; and I realized "hey, this stuff actually kinda makes sense. And you know what? I'm not too bad at it..." That's my goal for my students. Whether or not you want to have a future career in math, I want to help you realize that math doesn't have to be scary, and that you CAN do it.
SAT Math

SAT Math

Whenever I tell a student that I've scored an 800 in the Math section of the SAT, their eyes kind of bug out, and they look at me like I'm a freak. What makes the math section so difficult is that students are expected have an extremely solid foundation of the math that they have taken over their high school careers. Some of the rules that they are required to know are very random (and they may not have covered that topic in their class). When I work with students I go over the most important concepts, the ones that show up the most frequently on the test, in order to maximize their score with the least amount of effort. I have had many students score in the high 600s, 700s, (and several 800s as well!).
SAT Reading

SAT Reading

With the roll out of the Digital SAT, the SAT Reading/Writing section has changed. Actually, the concepts tested are still the same, however, the types of questions are different. I can teach you techniques to improve both your reading and writing. After 10+ years of work, I have helped many students improve there score by 200-300 points. I specialize in helping students score a 1400-1500+.

Extremely Kind, Detailed and Patient

Kevin taught me Organic Chemistry 1 in preparation of my exams, and he was incredibly helpful. He spoke very in a detailed and thorough manner explaining everything that I had questions on. He also would reinforce learning with questions to make sure I understood topics. He is an amazing tutor, and I highly recommend him to all who need help!

Patient, and knows his stuff.

Kevin is really helping me remember a lot of equations and the process of solving certain problems that I wouldn't have been able to remember by myself. The bro is chill, knows whats up, and quite possibly one of the best i've had.

Knowledgeable and explains material well

Organic chemistry 1 final exam. Kevin was patient while we worked through some of my understanding gaps throughout the semester. He was able to review each topic with me to fine tune my work for the final exam.

Knowledgeable and patient tutor

Kevin is a great tutor. He is able to work with my daughter and help her understand concepts that she has struggled with. She says he is the first tutor that has been able to help her move forward with math concepts. And she has worked with many.

Excellent tutor.

Kevin has been just awesome to work with! He explains things in a manner that allows you to understand it quickly and well. He expresses the importance of also working through problems and material outside of tutoring to truly be successful while bringing your questions back to him. If you dont understand a full concept or chapter, he does a wonderful job with simplifying things so it can be easily understood.

Great tutor

Kevin had helped my son with his college Precalculus class last semester and has once again been a great help with Calculus this semester. He made time for my son on short notice and really helped him understand the material in preparation for his midterm exam.

Very Professional, knowledgeable teacher

We sought Kevin's help for my son who decided to take Organic Chemistry (college) in the summer and was floundering. Kevin got him up to speed in about 6 sessions. What we liked most about him was that he was very punctual, professional, targeted in what needed to get done and effectively used technology to teach. I have used tutors before and found that they waste time trying to "figure out the level of their student". Kevin figured out my son quickly, which speaks to his experience. In addition, he had the ability to teach a subject matter that he clearly knows himself.
