I am an MIT graduate and STEM PhD student with 8+ years of experience in teaching and tutoring high school/college-level students in Math and Physics. In high school, I volunteered at the local tutoring center and helped underperforming students improve their grades in core STEM subjects. As an undergraduate, the MIT Physics department hired me as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the introductory level Mechanics (8.01) and Electromagnetism (8.02) courses, and I later did group tutoring for the department. I am passionate about teaching and have continued to help students learn and achieve academic success as a Teaching Assistant for my graduate program. I have also mentored multiple high school and college students to help them get into top undergraduate and graduate programs.

As part of the extensive coursework for my STEM double major, I completed advanced classes in both the Physics and Math departments at MIT--graduating with a 5.0 GPA in all of my STEM courses. In high school, I received credit for over 20 APs and a perfect score on the ACT. Because I myself had to struggle and study very hard to get to where I am today, I have gotten very good at finding new ways to explain complex concepts so that they are easier to understand. I am excited to put that in practice as a tutor in whichever ways serve you--whether it's helping you with your homework problems, spending some time to break down a concept you're struggling with in class, or giving advice on how to approach college essays! I am currently only accepting new students for college application counseling and college essay proofreading.

College Counseling

I believe that ALL students have genuinely interesting and meaningful experiences to share with the world--even if they don't yet realize it themselves! Through chatting with my students and learning about their unique stories and perspectives, I help them uncover their core values and build a compelling narrative around their background, interests, and aspirations for their college application essays. As an undergraduate at MIT, I worked part-time with the MIT Admissions Office and continued to volunteer as an alumni interviewer after graduating. I have personally mentored multiple high school students and helped them get into top programs such as Brown, Columbia, and Yale. I am also a recipient of the competitive NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and review personal statements, research statements, and provide counseling for students interested in applying to graduate school.

so patient and knowledgable!

I reached out to Lily with about five hours left before my Cornell supplemental deadline. I had pieced together an essay but I felt it lacked direction. I expected her to give me quick feedback, but instead, she digged deep into my soul for ideas hahahah. She didn’t just critique what I had written—she saw through the clutter to the core of what I was trying to say. Lily illuminated the potential in my scattered thoughts and helped me shape them into something more authentic. After meeting with her, I was able to write something ten times more true to myself in just 20 minutes than I had managed to write in the previous three hours. Lily tries to guide in the best direction and is very motivating! I am extremely happy that she helped me, she is an amazing writer and proofreader! And she is also very dedicated and will give you 100% of her time. She is the kindest!!

Great Admissions Interview Practice

Lily was great! I was preparing for my Yale Transfer Interview, and she provided thorough feedback and answered all of my questions. When it came time for my interview, I felt more relaxed and feel it went well. Thank you Lily! I would 10/10 recommend :)

Patient and helpful tutor

She was incredibly helpful in taking the time to carefully break down all the information and give me detailed feedback on my essay. Her critiques really pushed me to improve my writing, and because of her help, my essay turned out so much better than I could have done on my own.
