Bio

I enjoy helping students not only learn Spanish but help them understand that it opens up a whole new world culturally to them. My love for Spanish began when I traveled to Barcelona, Spain as a teenager and lived with a Spanish family for several months. It was during this time that I not only learned the language but I came to love the food, traditions, history of the country and it's people. Due to my friendship with my host family, I returned to Spain several more times and traveled...

I enjoy helping students not only learn Spanish but help them understand that it opens up a whole new world culturally to them. My love for Spanish began when I traveled to Barcelona, Spain as a teenager and lived with a Spanish family for several months. It was during this time that I not only learned the language but I came to love the food, traditions, history of the country and it's people. Due to my friendship with my host family, I returned to Spain several more times and traveled extensively throughout Spain.

While finishing my major in Spanish during my college years, I began tutoring other students who were struggling with their courses in Spanish. Later in my life, I tutored my oldest son in Spanish so that he was able to test out of Spanish 2 and move ahead to the next year.

Over the last several years I have been a substitute teacher for Spanish classes in a private school as well as tutored high school students in Spanish who wanted to improve their grades. In addition to teaching Spanish, I hosted several students from South American who lived and conversed with us daily in Spanish.

Teaching Spanish grammar and it's numerous rules is one of my strengths as well as giving tips on how to better memorize vocabulary. I encourage my students with organization and continued practice so that they can see progress in learning Spanish.

I have a Liberal Arts degree from the Ohio State University. During my college years while writing numerous papers I developed a love of the English language and it's many grammar rules. Currently, I tutor students in writing essays for high school and for college applications. I have a strong emphasis on proper grammar usage as well as creativity and the flow of the paper and/ or essay.

Today I currently help students brain storm creative writing ideas by asking them questions about their interests and life experiences. I have experience helping them put their thoughts on paper all the while helping them to follow proper grammar rules. Other experience includes helping students prepare high school papers and college entrance essays.

Knowledgeable and Patient Tutor!

Jacqueline has been working with my son for about a month now, and my son is making good progress in retaining the Spanish language. For context, he struggled in Spanish 2, but now he is doing better in Spanish 3. She helps him understand what is being said in Spanish by also speaking to him in English when needed. He seems more comfortable with the language since they started working together. We will continue to work with Jacqueline throughout the school year. I definitely recommend her - she is easy to work with!

Excellent tutor!

She has been tutoring our son, 8th grade in order to follow up his schoolwork (private school) . Focusing for the grammar, we looked many tutors, but we couldn't find as great as Jacqueline. She is very knowledgeable and patient, also very reliable. We would definitely recommend.
