Bio

I was born and raised in Japan and lived there until I was 27 years old. Currently, I work for a Japanese language school and a Japanese abacus math school where I teach preschool to elementary students. In addition, I work at a public school district and support physically or mentally challenged students. I find working with them to be rewarding and I work hard to help them reach their full potential. I truly enjoy working with students from diverse backgrounds.

I also have experience working as a banker at an international bank in Japan and have developed well-seasoned customer service skills. I look forward to meeting students of all age groups and a variety of cultural backgrounds.

During my free time, I enjoy cooking, baking, and exercising. I am a creative, patient, and caring individual who finds pleasure in helping people and animals. I hope to provide students with the skills to develop their inherent strengths. By teaching Japanese language and culture, I hope I can contribute to their increased understanding of global issues.

Yoko is a GREAT Japanese tutor

My daughter really enjoys having Yoko as her Japanese tutor. Yoko is great at understanding what my daughter needs to learn in order to do her best in her Japanese class.

Excellent, patient and knowledgeable

Yoko provided an excellent introduction to Japan, Japanese culture along with the first language lesson. She also provided some great information on where to get books to help me learn.

Learning with fun and confidence

Yoko is great, my boys were taking Japanese lesson for the pas two years in Hawaii and they had an awesome tutor, so they were a little nervous, but as soon they met Yoko the loved her, she made all of us fell comfortable and confident. It's our first time using Wyzant and I'm very happy we got this connection. Looking forward for plenty more classes to come! Arigato Yoko!

Tutor responded:

I appreciate the positive review very much! Educating your eager learners is a joyful experience. Their kind nature motivates me to become a better educator. I cannot wait to learn more about the culture of Hawaii and Brazil from them, and teach them all about the Japanese language. I am grateful for the opportunity to teach them.

Great Private Japanese Tutoring Experience

Yoko Sensei is a very nice and dedicated teacher who helped me greatly with my Japanese studying and Japanese daily conversation. She is very willing to teach anything the student want to study. Although I've only had her for a couple times of classes, I have leaned many things from her. Chatting with her after class, or outside class (She took me to a great store where sells Japanese books!), I learned about Japanese culture and what is like to live in Japan. She also tried to use more Japanese words in our conversations to help me with my hearing and pronunciations. I really liked her teaching style and highly recommend people to take her class. Thank you Yoko Sensei!
