I earned my bachelor's degree in biology with a focus on neuroscience at Whitman College, and my master's degree in science writing from Johns Hopkins University. I specialize in scientific communication and breaking down complex scientific topics to bite-sized pieces that everyone - kid to adult - can understand. Post-graduation, I started my own applied neuroscience business and have presented my findings about the neuroscience of sports fans and extraversion-introversion communication to Amazon Sports and other departments. I have also published essays on Medium for TailoredTutors and other companies, and my master's thesis is available for online public viewing at the Johns Hopkins University Scholarship library.
I have been professionally teaching since November 2025. I began as a speech and debate teacher for 2nd–4th graders in a classroom setting, where I helped students learn how to build arguments with use persuasive tools. I currently also teach yoga to Pre-K and kindergarten students, and I will be teaching science to 2nd–4th graders as well. My teaching experience includes both group instruction and individualized support within structured classroom environments.
My passion is to help the student understand the awesomeness of science, and that entails adapting my teaching methods to whatever fits the student. I do not simplify or dumb down topics by subtracting quality; I will not give up in finding ways to make the student understand the subject and making the experience positive for everyone. When I teach yoga to PreK and Kindergarteners, I do not simply go through the moves with them; I give them the tools to calm down in ways they can retain, like stories and fun activities. When teaching speech and debate to 2nd-4th graders, I make sure they know the tools of speech and persuasive argument and can fit them into historical and personal contexts.
Kid, teenager, or adult - I will match and amplify the effort the student brings to the table.
