Hi, I'm Alishaa! I am a graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn), pursuing my Master's degree in Computer Science and Information Technology. In December 2023, I graduated with a B.A. in International Relations & Global Business Management from the University of Southern California (USC), as a Dean's scholar. Additionally, I was a National Merit-Commended Scholar and scored in the top 1% nationwide on the SAT, and I have recently secured admission to highly selective undergraduate/graduate programs- firsthand experience that keeps me up-to-date on current testing standards and college admissions processes. I have always understood the importance of an effective teacher and aspire to make a positive impact on students' academic growth and confidence through tutoring.
I have developed my coaching style through years of hands-on mentoring in various settings. As a Mentor at CodeDay Labs, I guided four high-school interns through developing a project together and providing 1-on-1 career and college advice. Prior to this, at Camp Invention, I led about twenty students in building light-sensing robots and other STEM challenges, teaching them about science concepts and achieving learning goals. Six summers as a Girl Scout camp counselor further honed my ability to break complex skills into engaging, confidence-building steps, while also mentoring junior counselors in leadership and communication. I continue to advise younger students in my network on college lists, essays, and SATs whenever they reach out.
My tutoring style is collaborative and student-centered: we start by discussing goals, strengths, and pain points, then build a study plan that fits the student's schedule and learning preferences. Whether we're drilling SAT reading strategies or shaping a personal college essay, the focus is on strengthening core skills, boosting confidence, and celebrating progress along the way. I look forward to helping students raise their scores and craft authentic college narratives.
