I’m Sandra and I have over 20 years of experience teaching all levels of high school Spanish. My passion is teaching AP Spanish, which I have been doing for the past 12 years! I am a heritage Spanish speaker who grew up in the southwest and graduated with a degree in Latin American Studies. I received my teaching certification and MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University.
I am enthusiastic about language and culture and wish to impart my what I have learned through my teaching, studies, travels, and overall experiences with my students. I encourage students to make their own comparisons of lived experiences as making cultural comparisons is key to understanding the products, practices, and perspectives of the Spanish language. This is true for either preparing for an AP Spanish test or learning the basics of grammar.
My approach to teaching and tutoring is to assess student needs and provide structured practice to improve reading, listening, writing, and/or speaking skills. I will give meaningful and actionable feedback targeting areas in need of remediation and strategies for improvement.
I am available for evening and weekend tutoring sessions. Feel free to contact me if you’d like any additional information or would like to set up a session!
