Hello. I am a full time tutor and specialize in AP Physics, Honors Physics, first year College Physics, Calculus, and Chemistry. I have an undergraduate degree in physics with minors in math and chemistry from Virginia Tech and an M. A. in Teaching with a focus on science education from Boston University. I am also a former physics and chemistry teacher.

I tutored informally throughout high school and college, helping classmates with homework and preparing for tests. In the last few years I have tutored formally through in person sessions as well as online using Wyzant's videoconferencing software. Many of my students have complemented me on my patience as well as ability to illustrate difficult concepts.

I have a strong background in mathematics, having earned a mathematics minor at Virginia Tech and applying mathematics from algebra to advanced calculus in my physics courses. I have tutored students at different levels of mathematics from middle school topics such as pre-algebra to high school topics such as geometry, algebra, and pre-calculus, and college level courses such as differential, integral, and multivariable calculus. I am also familiar with teaching students how to apply mathematics concepts to physical problems.

After earning a B.S. in physics, I taught Physics, Chemistry, and Physical Science for several years as a high school teacher. I am familiar with breaking difficult physical concepts down to aid in understanding and helping students develop skills in approaching and working through problems.

AMAZING PHYSICS TUTOR

Ms. Jean is an amazing tutor! My son was in honor Physics with the most difficult instructor. (I protested the teacher with the school and they said, get a tutor!) Ms. Jean slowly, calmly, impeccably finished the year with an A in physics. She is totally accommodating with timing, especially the night before tests. I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT JEAN S.

Prepared, flexible, and patient

As usual, Jean was very prepared for our son’s tutoring session. She worked on current lessons and topics to ensure our son is ready. This latest session has been particularly helpful for test preparation. I highly recommend Jean!

Easy to work with, great explanations

Jean put up with our disorganization and still managed to help my daughter with her physics. It was great to have her work through some homework she had struggled with. But the proof is in the pudding: we have signed up for regular lessons with her.

Knowledgeable

Jean’s first lesson with my daughter went well. My daughter felt comfortable working with Jean.Jean was knowledgeable and able to support my daughter with the content. My daughter received a 100 on her chemistry quiz.

A game-changer!

Our daughter had been struggling with her 10th-grade honors math course all year. Jean has helped develop her understanding and closed gaps in just two weeks. As a teacher myself, I appreciate her experience and the way she has boosted confidence while explaining concepts. We will be working with her for as long as she is available!

Prepared, flexible, and patient

Jean has worked with our son twice before his high school honors chemistry midterm. She asked for study materials before and was very prepared for the session. As she worked with him, she was able to shift plans to address issues that came up during the session. Our son really appreciated that she could teach the material in a way that worked with his personal learning style. I highly recommend Jean!

Jean is great!

Our son has only had one lesson with Jean, but so far so good! He is studying AP physics and needs help. I was nervous about doing this online, but it seems to be fine.

physics homework help

Helped me a lot on my test! I was definitely more prepared than I would have been. Jean was very patient and kind. I will likely sign up for another session if needed. Thank you.
