Hello, my name is PJ!
I'm a Mechanical Engineering student at WSU Tri-Cities, though I have been at Columbia Basin College for the last 2 years. During that time I tutored other Engineering students and Chemistry, Physics, and Math students up to Calculus III. I am a Math Is Cool, Math Olympiad, and MATHCOUNTS veteran, proctored for 4 years in regional Math Is Cool competitions, and tutored elementary school competitors during high school. My favorite teaching method is using increasingly complicated examples from the trivially simple to the highly specific to build pattern recognition and allow the students to figure out key ideas on their own.
I am a Violist in the Mid-Columbia Symphony and have given well-reviewed private Violin and Viola lessons to several students ranging in age from 7 to 17. I specialize in music theory and small group repertoire.
I am also an Eagle Scout, which taught me invaluable oration and communication skills that I use every day when tutoring.
