I have completed all coursework for my bachelor’s in secondary mathematics education through Western Governors University and am currently awaiting final graduation review. I recently finished student teaching in a high school math classroom, where I taught and supported students in Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and related courses.

My strongest tutoring areas are middle school math through Algebra 2 and Trigonometry. While I have completed higher-level college math coursework, including Calculus I, II, and III, College Geometry, and Statistics I and II, my teaching experience is strongest in foundational and secondary-level math. Because of that, I am most effective helping students with Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry.

During student teaching, I planned lessons, delivered instruction, worked with students individually and in small groups, created review activities, analyzed assessment data, and adjusted instruction based on student needs. I have worked with students who are confident in math and students who feel behind, frustrated, or convinced they are “bad at math.”

My tutoring style focuses on building understanding, not just finishing homework. I start by identifying what the student already understands, where the confusion begins, and what earlier skills may be causing the struggle. From there, I break problems into clear steps, use guided questioning, and connect new material to concepts the student already knows.

Many students struggle in math because they missed one or two earlier skills, not because they are incapable. My goal is to help students rebuild those missing pieces, gain confidence, and learn a process they can use independently on homework, quizzes, and tests.

My military experience as a Non-Commissioned Officer strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, stay patient, and adapt explanations to different learners. Overall, I want to make math manageable and create a supportive environment where students can ask questions and grow.
