I studied mathematics and philosophy at Harvey Mudd College, and earned a Ph.D in mathematics at the University of Michigan, where I taught calculus and linear algebra. I also tutored a number of students. After graduate school, I was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Iowa State University for four years. I worked in research and development at Boeing for almost thirty years, and occasionally taught evening classes in mathematics and control system engineering at the now-defunct Henry Cogswell College in Kirkland. I enjoy teaching very much and many students said that I was the best mathematics teacher that they had ever had. As a tutor, my style is to guide my students through the solution of the exercises. He or she will write down the solution in small steps, following my suggestions. I may ask probing questions to elicit the needed steps from the students themselves.
