I've been a software engineer for many years, mostly in games, and I'm excited to mix in some tutoring! What makes me a good tutor is how much I enjoy studying how people learn and communicate, including those who might have more trouble communicating due to neurodiversity, cultural differences, or other minority statuses. I've taken up to calculus 3, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra. I can tutor anything below that level with proficiency. I have always been interested in lower-level mathematics. My intuitive understanding of Algebra was often different from most of my peers. I enjoy Algebra so I learned it both intuitively and using more standard rote methods. This experience helped me develop a personal understanding of both standard and non standard learning and teaching styles.

I have completed comprehensive courses in C, C++, and Java and worked on semester long team projects in both Python and C. I also have experience helping other students understand complex assignments and debug code, both with and without IDEs or other debugging tools.

I've taken up to calculus 3, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra. I can tutor anything below that level with proficiency. I have always been interested in lower-level mathematics. My older sister and I had very different experiences learning Prealgebra. While it came naturally to me, she suffers from Dyscalculia, a difficult learning disorder, and had much more difficulty with the topic. Helping her learn was an informative experience that made me a better tutor.

Just what I needed!

John B. meets all the criteria I need in a tutor. He is extremely patient and just as polite when we meet, which is important as I am an adult learner who was struggling in a basic math class. I feel more confident now when my professor glosses over a process, because I know John will fill in the blanks on the information I need to comprehend. He is very knowledgeable and dedicated to the idea of making sure the basics are understood before we proceed with a particular lesson. He is a wonderful tutor!

Very Knowledgeable

Although very knowledgeable, after discussion with my son, we decided that John is not the right match for him. My son did take away a more thorough understanding of the concepts reviewed, however.
