Hello,
I'm Alex. Whether you’ve reached your limits with precalculus, need proofreading on your English paper, or want study tips for your next exam, I am confident I can help you or point you in the right direction.
About myself: I graduated from high school and am currently pursuing my BS at Northeastern University. I’ve taken over half a dozen AP exams and finished high school with a 3.7 GPA, despite a full honors/AP schedule. I’m passionate about cybersecurity and have placed in the top 10 out of about 200 candidates in a nationwide cybersecurity exam. When not tutoring, I like to ski, eat good sushi, and write code.
As for my tutoring experience, I’ve tutored 9th grade students with Arduino programming over the course of 3 years - for approximately a month before Christmas 2022, 2023, and 2024. This took place in a large auditorium where students raised their hands, and I approached them as needed. I've also tutored friends and siblings 1:1 - everything from proofreading grammar in essays to cleaning up Java code in AP Computer Science A to meticulously checking precalculus work.
Whenever I tutor, I try to explain the underlying concepts – not merely to solve the problem at hand, but so that the student can solve similar problems in the future. It’s important to understand underlying concepts so that the student can think outside the box and apply them in the future. To that end, I tend to focus on specific topics (such as trigonometry in algebra 2, or grammar in English) during each session. Providing textbooks, rubrics, past homework assignments, etc. in advance will be helpful to achieve this goal.
I can’t wait to meet you. Happy tutoring!
Alex N.
