Hi there! I'm excited to help you succeed in AP Math, Biology, Computer Science, and Speech and Debate. My journey with these subjects began during high school, where I earned perfect scores of 5 on AP Biology, AP Calculus AB and BC, and AP Computer Science Principles and A. In speech and debate, I competed in the NSDA and achieved top 1% ranking among debaters nationwide. Currently, I work as a speech consultant at the University of Washington, helping students develop their public speaking and argumentation skills. These experiences give me unique insight into student challenges and effective solutions.

My tutoring philosophy centers on making complex concepts accessible and building genuine understanding rather than just teaching to tests. As a teaching assistant for AP Biology, I discovered my passion for breaking down intimidating topics into clear, manageable steps. I create customized practice tests and select challenging problems that mirror actual AP exam formats, helping students become comfortable with both content and testing environments. Whether working through calculus derivatives, debugging code, exploring biological processes, or constructing debate arguments, I focus on connecting abstract concepts to real-world applications.

I've worked one-on-one with high school students across all these areas, helping them improve grades and develop confidence. My students have successfully navigated calculus concepts, programming algorithms, biological systems, and debate techniques. I adapt my teaching style to each student's learning preferences, whether they need visual aids, step-by-step walkthroughs, coding practice, or speech coaching. My goal is helping you earn that coveted 4 or 5 on AP exams while developing critical thinking skills and genuine appreciation for these subjects that will serve you in college and beyond.

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

Over the past 3 years, I have tutored middle school and high school students in Algebra 1, focusing on topics such as linear equations, inequalities, systems of equations, polynomials, factoring, and quadratic functions. My teaching approach emphasizes breaking down complex problems into manageable steps, using multiple methods of explanation, and connecting abstract concepts to real-life applications. I specialize in building confidence by identifying gaps in understanding, reinforcing foundational skills, and providing plenty of practice with guided feedback. My goal is to help each student not only improve their grades but also develop problem-solving skills and a stronger appreciation for mathematics.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I'm currently studying Computer Science at the University of Washington, where I've built a solid foundation in advanced mathematics including algebra, calculus, and discrete math. I understand the challenges of fast-paced college math courses where there's limited time to fully absorb complex concepts during lectures. My approach focuses on helping students like you revisit and reinforce fundamental Algebra 2 topics such as quadratic functions, logarithmic equations, polynomial operations, and systems of equations. I excel at identifying knowledge gaps and providing targeted review sessions that strengthen conceptual understanding. Having navigated rigorous college-level math myself, I know how to efficiently structure intensive review sessions to maximize learning in a short timeframe. I'm patient, thorough, and skilled at explaining concepts multiple ways until they truly click, ensuring you leave our sessions with confidence in your algebraic skills.
Biology

Biology

I earned a top score of 5 on the AP Biology exam and subsequently served as a Teaching Assistant for the course, where I led review sessions, graded lab reports, and supported students in mastering complex topics. My experience both as a high‑performing student and as an instructional aide gives me a deep understanding of the AP Biology curriculum—and the proven strategies that help learners excel.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I'm a Dean's List Computer Science student at the University of Washington with a strong foundation in programming fundamentals and computer science principles. I achieved perfect scores of 5 on both AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science A, demonstrating mastery of core concepts including algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented programming. My academic excellence at UW has given me deep experience with advanced topics like software engineering, systems programming, and theoretical computer science. I'm passionate about helping students understand complex programming concepts and develop strong problem-solving skills in computer science.
Debate

Debate

I'm a highly accomplished debater who competed in the Orange County Debate League (OCDL) and achieved top 1% ranking in the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA). As team captain of my high school debate team, I developed strong leadership skills while mentoring younger debaters and organizing practice sessions. My competitive experience spans multiple debate formats including policy, public forum, and Lincoln-Douglas debate, giving me comprehensive knowledge of argumentation techniques, research methods, and public speaking skills. I'm passionate about helping students develop critical thinking, persuasive communication, and confidence in competitive debate environments.
English

English

Hi Andrew! I'm a Computer Science student at UW with strong math foundations and experience tutoring middle schoolers. I'd be happy to help your daughter with both math and English, focusing on building her confidence and understanding in both subjects! I have extensive experience in mathematics, having earned perfect scores of 5 on AP Calculus AB and BC, and I'm currently applying advanced mathematical concepts in my computer science coursework. For English, I developed strong writing and communication skills through my debate experience as a top 1% NSDA competitor and my current role as a speech consultant at UW. I specialize in helping middle school students break down complex concepts into manageable pieces, whether that's solving algebraic equations or improving essay structure and grammar. My approach focuses on building fundamental skills while keeping learning engaging and age-appropriate.
Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel

I'm currently studying Computer Science at the University of Washington, where I've extensively used Microsoft Excel in engineering and technical courses for data analysis, statistical modeling, and project management. Through my coursework, I've developed proficiency in advanced Excel functions including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex formulas, data visualization, and macro automation. I've applied Excel to analyze large datasets in engineering projects, create financial models, and track project timelines. My experience covers both fundamental spreadsheet operations and advanced features like conditional formatting and data validation. I'm skilled at teaching students how to leverage Excel's capabilities for their specific needs, whether organizing data, performing calculations, or creating professional presentations of results.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I currently serve as a Speech Consultant at the University of Washington, where I help students develop their public speaking skills and overcome communication challenges. My background as a competitive speaker in the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) gave me extensive experience in various speech formats including impromptu, extemporaneous, and prepared speeches. Through my consulting role, I've worked with diverse students to improve their presentation skills, build confidence, and master effective delivery techniques. I specialize in helping students overcome speech anxiety while developing compelling content and engaging presentation styles for academic, professional, and competitive speaking contexts.
