Hello there! My name is Annika. I am a journalism major who is passionate about writing and public speaking. Over the past six years, I have worked to hone my skills in these areas, and I am excited to teach others so they can succeed in them as well. From elementary school through high school, I received a classical liberal arts education, which focused on teaching subjects in a holistic manner. This education has given me a greater understanding and appreciation for beautiful writing and has helped me become a more articulate communicator. I hope to influence the next generation of communicators with my knowledge and skill sets.

For two of my four high school years, I competed in a national speech and debate league. I qualified for the national invitational tournament both years, where I received quarterfinalist and semifinalist accolades in various speech events. During this time, I also received the opportunity to coach younger members of my speech and debate club to improve their speechwriting and delivery.

My love for writing has not only helped me succeed in speech and debate, but it has also funded my college education. While in high school, I scored in the top 98th percentile for the SAT and the top 99th percentile for the CLT, scores which have provided scholarship money at the college I currently attend. I’ve also applied my writing skills to formal competitions and have won essay writing contests for cash prizes.

I believe in tutoring with a personalized approach. When it comes to skills such as writing, speaking, and test taking, one size does not fit all. As your tutor, I will adjust my teaching style and content to meet your needs, and I will provide not only practical tips to help you improve but also encouragement as you make your way to success.
