Hello there! I'm Adrian, a tutor with over 13 years of teaching and tutoring experience in mathematics and coding! I graduated as one of the top math students in high school and earned a 5 in the AP Calculus AB test. I then received an award as the top graduating ACMS (applied and computational mathematical sciences) student from the University of Washington in 2010 when I graduated with two Bachelor's Degrees earned in four years from ACMS and atmospheric sciences. After that I earned a Master's Degree in atmospheric sciences with a 4.0 GPA.
I discovered during my time as an undergraduate and graduate student that I enjoy sharing knowledge and helping people out, and I've tutored or taught students in mathematics and/or coding since. Most of my clients range anywhere from young teenagers to young and older adults. My math tutoring sessions are usually one-on-one, while I've taught coding to groups of 10-100 students.
You'll find that I have a ton of energy and empathy in my sessions. I am very thorough with my explanations, and can adapt very easily to everyone's learning styles. Learning a new subject is difficult, and I understand that struggle, so I will often reassure clients that it will be worth it in the long run and to also keep your long-term goals in mind to motivate you to persevere. The goal is to gain new knowledge and use the tools you've learned - in the classroom, independently and in my sessions - that you can apply on your own, especially for a test or in a real-life job.
When I tutor and teach, come prepared with the questions you have! Better questions mean better sessions. I don't believe in making guarantees in terms of grades because while some of the work will be in the sessions, most of it will be on your own, and I will do everything I can to help you get started, and then it'll be up to you to continue the momentum.
Have a love for learning, and have an open mind and some patience! If you have all those, you'll leave a better person!
