I hold a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Idaho, where my research focused on planetary science and remote sensing, as well as a Master of Science in Physics from Rhodes University and two cum laude bachelor's degrees in physics and applied mathematics. My educational background gives me deep expertise in physics at all levels, astronomy, mathematics through calculus, and data science. I have also completed independent work in machine learning, including building anomaly detection systems and random forest classifiers using Python, which qualifies me to tutor in data science and scientific programming.
For over six years, I served as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Idaho, where I received the university's Best Teaching Assistant Award. I developed curriculum, led discussion sections, and taught undergraduate courses in physics and astronomy to students ranging from first-year beginners to advanced undergraduates. My teaching approach breaks down complex technical concepts into intuitive, step-by-step explanations using visual analogies and real-world examples. I also worked as an AI Trainer for Physics at Outlier AI, evaluating and improving AI-generated scientific content, which further sharpened my ability to communicate clearly to non-experts.
Beyond university teaching, I volunteered as a math literacy tutor for high school students in South Africa and mentored individual students during office hours and one-on-one sessions throughout my academic career. I have also coached graduate students on research methods, scientific writing, and data analysis for their theses. Whether in a classroom of 50+ students, a one-on-one setting, or volunteer tutoring, I have consistently helped learners at different ages and skill levels build confidence and master difficult material. I am prepared to tutor high school students, college students, and adult learners in physics, astronomy, mathematics, Python programming, data science, and technical writing.
