My name Connor and I would love to be your new tutor! I have a Bachelor's in Biochemistry with a Minor in International French, and a Master's in Chemistry - both of which I graduated summa cum laude. University was an eye-opening experience for me, one where I met so many great people and had the opportunity to explore many different interests of mine. I was always fascinated by science, so being able to fully immerse myself in the world of chemistry as a researcher felt like a dream come true. Along the way I also discovered my love for languages, leading me to learn French and studying to better understand my native tongue, English.
One thing that helped drive me into my studies were the excellent teachers I encountered along the way. They are what led me to start tutoring in university, originally in just chemistry but eventually branching out into English as a Second Language (ESL) for our international students. In total I have 4 years of chemistry tutoring (mixed between fundamentals, AP chemistry, and organic chemistry), 3 years of ESL tutoring for international students, and a French study circle for I helped host for 1 year. Through it all, I was able to meet amazing people, form strong connections, and help spread my love for learning in ways that better fit their learning style better than a traditional classroom setting. I greatly encourage active learning, as simply listening to a lecture is not enough for students to grasp and retain new information. Sitting down with a student and listening to their frustration, then helping coach them through their mental block can be such a rewarding feeling for both the student and myself. That would be the main reason why I find myself always coming back to tutoring.
I would love to connect, and if you have any additional questions please ask! I look forward to our first lesson together.
