Students looking for a tutor show how much they value their education. I love those students. After 30 years of teaching, 18 years of high school English and 11 teaching college writing, I love being in the classroom, but I also love tutoring. Tutoring allows me to individualize lessons to meet students' needs and goals. I've tutored immigrants from all over the world. I have also tutored students who were accepted into medical school at the University of Colorado as well as Harvard University. For ten years I was an editor in a corporate setting, and I've worked privately with authors who have published in a variety of genres. What a pleasure it is to help a student master the writing skills necessary to advance through their academic career.

I specialize in college level writing and have taught basic composition 1 and 2. I figure out my students' problem areas and points of concern, and then I proceed to help them build their basic level of writing skills using their assigned homework, or lessons I've developed specifically for them. My intent is to support and build students where they are by giving regular feedback.

After a free consultation, I will cover with the student grammar, proofreading, vocabulary, essay design, audience and purpose, MLA formatting, and a variety of genres including narrative, profile, concept, common ground, and argument.

I prefer to meet online or in a library, and I am willing to meet at other chosen locations outside the home, but I will consider special cases. I am available throughout the week and am flexible with my hours, however, I do have a 4-hour cancellation policy.

Please contact me to discuss your needs and to schedule an appointment. Write on!

Approved Subjects

English

English

I am an adjunct instructor and tutor of writing at a local community college. I can help you with test preparation, writing for college courses, and building skills in editing, proofreading, grammar, vocabulary, etc.
Grammar

Grammar

I have taught grammar to both high school and college students as a teacher of English. Grammar is not only important for international students, but also for students who grew up speaking English. I want to help my students learn to write and speak English so that they can effectively communicate their message.
Proofreading

Proofreading

In my college classroom, I spend quite a bit of time on proofreading. Most errors in writing can be found while proofreading, and I offer my students techniques to help them not only find, but also fix their errors before turning in their assignments.
Writing

Writing

I have been a writer for years and have published more than 30 articles in magazines and online. I've also have a Master's Degree in Writing and have taught it at both the high school and college levels. My work as an editor has helped six authors publish their books, and I have also written my memoir. Writing is something I love to help others learn to do, and I strive to make it less intimidating by taking it step by step and offering tools of the trade. I love it most when students have that "ah ha" moment when they've learned something about themselves, or the world, or a subject they're struggling in, through writing.

A huge success in the making

My daughter has worked with Caroline a couple of times now and she has gone from hating her senior project to loving it. Caroline has brought out a passion in my daughter that I was not expecting. We are very happy with how things are going with her tutoring. Highly recommended

Tutor responded:

Anna is a joy to work with; she is very bright! We are working together on her senior project, and I'm learning as much about Art Therapy as she is about writing!

Patient and knowledgeable tutor

Caroline was warm, friendly and extremely knowledgeable in the areas I needed help in. She was very patient with me and listened to what I needed in a tutor and helped me pinpoint learning goals and specific areas where improvement was needed.

So friendly and patient! Lovely lady. Highly recommend!

Writing process, path forward to make writing more appealing, getting to know each other. My son who is averse to writing responded positively to her.
