I'm an educator and artist with an MFA and five years of experience teaching in the classroom, plus over a decade of professional work in writing, photography, and design. I've taught students of every level, from young learners just building their skills to college students and adult artists refining advanced work, and I genuinely enjoy the moment when something that felt confusing finally clicks for someone. My teaching background includes both one-on-one work and full classrooms, always with an emphasis on meeting each student exactly where they are.

In writing and essays, my graduate training in academic and critical writing lets me help students with everything from grammar and structure to thesis development, revision, and college application essays. In photography and Photoshop, I bring years of professional experience with film, digital, darkroom, and editing, and I can teach both the technical foundations and the creative side. In art, I've taught drawing, design, and studio practice across many mediums. I also tutor Spanish at a working conversational level for students building their foundations.

My approach is patient, encouraging, and practical. I believe skill in writing and art is learned, not something you're simply born with, and I focus on building both ability and confidence so students trust their own ideas. Whether you want to raise a grade, finish a strong application essay, learn your camera, or develop your creative voice, I'll help you get there at a pace that works for you.

Approved Subjects

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop

I've worked in Adobe Photoshop for over a decade as a professional photographer, designer, and educator, and I've taught it to students ranging from complete beginners to advanced artists. I can help you with photo editing and retouching, layers and masking, color correction, compositing, and preparing files correctly for both web and print. I also teach Photoshop for digital art and design work, including graphics, brand assets, and creative projects. Whether you're learning the basics of the workspace or refining professional-level techniques, I'll meet you at your level and give you clear, hands-on guidance you can apply right away.
Art Theory

Art Theory

I hold an MFA with extensive graduate training in art theory, criticism, and critical/cultural theory, and I've taught these frameworks to students learning to analyze and write about art. I help students grasp theoretical concepts, apply critical frameworks to artworks, and develop and articulate their own interpretations clearly. This is an area of genuine depth for me, my own practice and writing are rooted in it, so I can make challenging theoretical material understandable and useful. I meet students where they are, from first exposure to advanced study.
English

English

I bring five years of experience teaching and supporting students in reading, writing, and critical analysis across a wide range of levels and backgrounds. I help learners strengthen their voice, structure, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and literary analysis. My graduate training in academic and critical writing means I can support everything from foundational skills to college-level essays and literature discussion. I'm experienced working with students who are still building confidence in English, including multilingual learners. Whether you need help understanding a text, organizing your ideas, or polishing your writing, I'll meet you where you are and build from there.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

I hold an MFA and have graduate-level training in academic, critical, and creative writing, along with five years of experience teaching writing and helping students develop and organize their ideas. My academic background had emphasis on critical theory and sociological analysis in visual media and culture. I received commendation from faculty for my thesis: a 75 page critical paper reviewing social and art history development in visual language, and evaluating how symbolism has been influenced by classical still life painting. From beginner to advanced levels, I work with students on the full process, from brainstorming and thesis development to structure, argument, revision, and polished final drafts, across academic essays, analytical and research papers, personal statements, and college application essays. My background spans the humanities and social sciences, and I'm especially skilled at helping writers turn complex or abstract ideas into clear, well-structured, compelling prose. Whether you're stuck on how to start, strengthening an argument, or refining a draft that's almost there, I can meet you at any stage and help you find and sharpen your own voice.
Graphic Design

Graphic Design

I have over a decade of professional experience in graphic and visual design, including brand identity systems, packaging, layout, and marketing materials, and an MFA in a visual arts field. I teach the fundamentals of design, composition, color, typography, and visual hierarchy, alongside hands-on skills in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. I can help beginners learn the tools and principles from scratch or help more advanced students refine their design eye and build a portfolio. My approach is practical and project-based, so you learn by making real work.
Painting

Painting

I'm a practicing artist with an MFA and five years of experience teaching studio art across a wide range of mediums, including oil, acrylic, and water-based paints. I help students build technical foundations, color mixing, brushwork, composition, and value, while also developing their own creative voice and confidence. I work with beginners learning the basics as well as more experienced painters refining their practice or preparing a body of work. I believe painting is a learnable skill, and I meet each student at their level to help them grow.
Photography

Photography

I hold an MFA in Photography and have five years of experience teaching photography and visual arts to students at every level, from first-time beginners to advanced and college-level artists. My expertise spans digital and large-format film photography, darkroom and alternative printing processes, studio and natural lighting, composition, and post-production in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I also mentor students on building portfolios, preparing for critiques, and developing their own artistic voice, work I've done at the graduate level as an instructor at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Whether you want to learn your camera, master the darkroom, refine your creative vision, or prepare a portfolio for school or exhibition, I can meet you where you are and help you grow.
